“ODUDUWA UNIVERSITY is cult-free; Our Students are law abiding” - OUI MGT

Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu (OUI), Ile-Ife, Osun State

The management of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu-Ife has described a news story currently circulating in some media in which some alleged cult members, some of whom were said to be students of OUI, were said to have attacked some students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife during an entertainment event hosted on OAU campus as not only ridiculous but reeks of irresponsibility and mischief on the part of the writer and his sources.

In a release signed by the Special Assistant to the Chancellor ODUDUWA University, Prince Aloba Idowu, the management of the University frowned at the attempt to tarnish the good image of the institution. “For one, how possible is it for students of a young but thriving university as ours to be accused of attacking students of almighty OAU in a show hosted on OAU campus? Is it not ironical or is it another story of small David terrorising the almighty Goliath?”
“The story is not only ridiculous but reeks of irresponsibility and mischief on the part of the writer and his sources”.

According to him, the issue of cultism and occult practices is not new at OAU. “Even before OUI was granted licence, the media had been awashed with stories of the escapades of cultist as they unleashed terror on the university community. The events of July 10, 1999 when some students were cut down in their prime by cultists are still fresh in our minds. The Vice Chancellor of OAU was alleged to have been involved. Is that possible in any private University?”

“The truth of the matter is that it was the students of OAU that infiltrated our campus and introduced OUI students to cultism when we started some ten years ago and many students have been expelled on the accounts of this.  After that episode we no longer allow OAU students to associate with our students. This is one of the reasons OUI management discourage any form of fraternization between our students and OAU students as experience has shown us that they are a bad influence on them. You can hardly enter OUI unless you have a genuine business. Come to OUI day or night, you will meet policemen and the RAY POWER GUARDS on standby.”

“We can categorically say that Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government is cult-free. The ones associating with OAU students are the expelled students who kept on parading themselves as OUI students.”

Efforts to reach the President and Chancellor of Oduduwa University, His Royal Eminence, Dr Ramon Adegoke Atobatele ADEDOYIN  proved abortive as he was said to have gone to RUSSIA with some students of the University to formalise a Students Exchange Programme with St Petersburg Technical University in St Petersburg, RUSSIA.

40 students of Oduduwa University are to spend a semester studying in Russia. The one semester exchange programme will not only be completely tuition-free but it is also accommodation-free. However the students are expected to pay their transportation and feeding expenses
