The Gateway Foundation and Orbital Assembly Corporation are not joking when they said a hotel will be opened in space by 2027. They call it Voyager Station, which will be the first commercial space station with target start of construction in 2025.
They envision this circular space station to hold up to 400 guests, featuring bars, restaurants, spas, movie theaters, and of course bedrooms. As shown in the pictures, the main structure is composed of two concentric rings one of which is a docking hub and the other as the backbone of the station which will house modules, solar panels, radiators, and even a rail transport system.
Voyager Station is said to be rotating to “produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation”.
The OAC website says, “The station will be designed from the start to accommodate both national space agencies conducting low gravity research and space tourists who want to experience life on a large space station with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a nice hotel.”
