Oduduwa University Seeks ICT And Research Collaboration With Redeemer’s University

As part of his visit to neighbouring universities in Osun State, the Vice Chancellor, Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Professor Benjamin Segun Aribisala has called on the management of Redeemer’s University, Ede (RUN) for collaboration of both universities in all areas of shared educational commonalities, especially in Research, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Teaching, to bring about mutual benefit.

Professor Aribisala made this call during his recent visit to the Vice Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Professor Anthony Enisan Akinlo, and other management staff of the institution.

He said his purpose of meeting with the leadership of Redeemer’s University is to identify how both universities can work together to get it right in all areas of training because, universities, either private or public are established to train people for educational purpose and help them fulfil their destiny, identify their goals in life, haven been positioned by God to be in academics to help identify their calling.

“Because of our shared commonality of purpose of helping people to build their career to attain certain height in life, we need to work together to achieve this and many more in the areas of research and exchange programmes.

Our coming here is to see how we can collaborate from the so many benefits that abounds in our universities, in expertise and strength especially in ICT, and to the glory of God, as a professor of Computer Science, our working together can tackle common problems in our areas of weaknesses and strengths, in our institutions, our nation and in our various communities in particular, for them to feel more of our presence”, he concluded.

While responding, the Vice Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Professor Anthony Enisan Akinlo, accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs) Adebola Adebileje and other top officials of Redeemer’s University that received Professor Aribisala and his entourage, first congratulated and prayed for God’s support for him on his new appointment and applauded his move to seek collaboration with a view to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RUN as a very good way of starting his tenure.

“If universities abroad can collaborate with themselves and even with some others in our country, there is need for more collaborations between ourselves too”, he said.

Prof Akinlo further pointed out that Redeemer’s University, established to raise global leaders as change agents, imbued with god-fearing attributes do have existing MoU with some other Nigerian universities, but promised to look into both university‘s areas of strength and weaknesses as pointed out by Prof Aribisala, and will work out a collaboration with Oduduwa University to foster a mutual and better relationship and togetherness, as they are both sited in Osun State.

To further corroborate the need for such exchange, Prof Akinlo informed the Oduduwa University delegation that RUN, through its African Centre of Excellence for Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) has since inception been Nigeria’s leading research powerhouse, which has les to its been certified and selected as one of the three specialised continental reference sequencing research and bioinformatics laboratories for emerging pathogens by World Health Organisation (WHO) and African Centre for Disease Control (ACDC).

In his concluding remarks, Prof Akinlo said because he know and can attest that running a private university is highly capital intensive, he is commending the efforts of the Chancellor and Founder of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, His Royal Eminence, (Dr) Abdulrahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin, Maye of Yoruba Kingdom, for his giant strides in providing education and job opportunities for citizens.

He also called for support of the government at all levels for him and others like him with such vision to own five tertiary institutions across the country and beyond.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Prof (Mrs) Adebola Adebileje thanked Prof Aribisala and other members of Oduduwa University team on his entourage for deeming it fit to visit RUN  to seek synergy, with a view to signing an MoU, as that in itself is seeking a lasting growth that will be greatly beneficial to both universities.

Others in the management team of RUN that received the OUI delegation are; Registrar, Mr Olukayode Akindele, Bursar, Mrs Olutayo-David and the university Librarian, Dr Akinniyi Adeleke.

The Vice Chancellor, Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Prof Benjamin Segun Aribisala was accompanied on this visit to Redeemer’s University, Ede by Princess (Dr) Adeline Adeyemi, Registrar Oduduwa University, Barrister (Mrs) Lawal, Legal Adviser II, Mr Olufemi Mebude, Director Media and Publicity II and Mr Kola Kazeem.
