ADEDOYIN GRANTS 2M NAIRA SCHOLARSHIP TO IFE INDIGENE, PROMISES N20,000 BURSARY AWARDS TO INDIGENTS STUDENTS


Ife-born business mogul and founder of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu-Ife, His Royal Eminence, Dr Ramon Adegoke Adedoyin has instituted a two million naira scholarship scheme for an Ife indigent student to study at Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu.

Dr Adedoyin made this disclosure during a courtesy visit to the university by a delegation of the National Ife Descendants Students' Association which is the umbrella body that houses every tertiary institution student of Ife origin.

In addition to this, the philanthropist also promised to give bursary award of twenty thousand naira (N20,000) each to twenty indigent Ife indigenes aside from a gift of two hundred and fifty naira (250,000) financial assistance which he gave the association towards the execution of their  planned programmes.

While stating the purpose of his visit, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the association, Mr. Eluyera Oladipupo said the delegation was at the university to seek the goodwill and assistance of the Ife Prince in securing bursary assistance for indigent members, a full scholarship and studentship slot for a member of the association at Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu and to seek his financial assistance for an educational trip which the association wishes to embark on.

According, to him the National Ife Descendants Students' Association is a body that is propelled towards the “overall development of all Ile-Ife indigenes (students)” with the objective to add value, contribute to the intellectual expansion and academic advancement of all Ife students.

He added that in line with her objectives, the society annually organises a spectrum of programmes aimed at the development of not just her members but the community as a whole. Such programmes he disclosed, include annual quiz and debate competition for secondary school students, free summer school also for secondary students in Ile-Ife, public symposia, Issuance of scholarship fund to the indigent, educational trips, revealing and enlightening conferences etc.

In his speech while welcoming the delegation, Prince Adedoyin admonished the student visitors to emulate his footstep and embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship even as undergraduates noting that he started as a home lesson teacher as an undergraduate and today, the home lesson teacher is the proprietor of five tertiary institutions of which Oduduwa University and the Polytechnic are located within Ife environs, others are located in United States of America and Ghana respectively.

He also charged them to take more interest in Ife affairs so they can contribute positively to the development of Ile-Ife.

The delegation also had the Secretary, Caretaker Committee of the National Ife Descendants Students' Association, Adereti Adewumi, and two former Presidents Omisakin Waheed and Oladimeji Abimbola among other delegates.
